How is this different from PowerToys Workspaces?
PowerToys Workspaces covers the basic shape — launch a set of apps, reposition windows — and it's free, so try it first. Modus exists for the gaps that stop it being reliable day-to-day: per-workflow global hotkeys, Chrome profiles that land in the right windows, minimizing everything that doesn't belong, and window placement that holds up on multi-monitor and mixed-DPI setups. The table above is the honest version.
What happens when my trial ends?
Modus drops to a free tier: one workflow, activated manually from the app (no hotkeys). Nothing is deleted and nothing stops opening — your captured workflows are yours. Buy a license any time to unlock everything again.
Do I need an account or an internet connection?
No account, ever. Your license is a signed key verified inside the app — there is no activation server, and Modus works fully offline. The only network calls are the once-a-day update check and, if you buy, the checkout page itself.
Windows warned me about the installer. Why?
The direct download is not yet code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen shows a warning until the installer builds reputation — the same thing happens to most new indie software. Every release ships with a SHA-256 checksum you can verify. A Microsoft Store build with zero warnings is on the way.
Which versions of Windows are supported?
Windows 10 and Windows 11, 64-bit. Multi-monitor, mixed-DPI, dock/undock — that's the hardware Modus is built and tested on.
How many PCs can I use one license on?
All of yours. It's a personal license tied to you, not a machine — desktop, laptop, the machine after that. It includes every 1.x update.
